Only because of 1 front desk member

The only reason this hotel is getting 3 stars instead of 1 is because of the one front desk employee who mad my stay somewhat enjoyable. Upon my check in I was greeted with not so friendly staff member on a very quiet morning. I usually will book a room for the 2 nights, the night before and the following day when transiting through Manchester so I know I have a room ready. When I received my room assignment I discovered it was located directly next door to the Airline Crew Lounge at the beginning of the hall on the 1st floor near the elevators at the central crossroads for all hallways. I mean come on the amount of traffic that would be transiting through this are would be absurd. Not to mention the room size was smaller than a standard College dorm room and the window faced the car park area. I returned back to the front desk to request a different room only to be met by the same desk agent and another colleague who over heard me request a room change and I proceeded to hear the comment "unpleasant US traveler" mumbled. I immediately questioned the desk agents comment but was met with "Nothing Sir, we will have you another room shortly". I made my way finally to my new room on the 4th floor that was very quiet. Also, what hotel doesn't place wash clothes for showering in the bathroom?!?! This ONE!!! Later that afternoon I stopped by the front desk and was met by Steph, who was very nice and even gave me Lounge Access for the 1 evening as she was aware of how often I travel though Manchester.

poor customer service following my stay.

During my stay (4 nights) i received a gift from colleagues. When i lef tthe hotel i relasied i left the unopened gift and gift bag and card in my room on the desk. The hotel stated it was not found, so it seems (the rather large item) has disappeared into thin air. I was informed a manager would call me back to discuss further on Monday.

Its now Wednesday and I've received no call back, I have made 2 further calls and no one is calling me back. Really feel let down by the team at Crowne Plaza.
