What a strange strange place. I was excited to get a great rate for a crowne plaza hotel and excited to be near the Oregon district, which is supposed to be the hip part of town.
I was in town for an interview and my interview site he had arranged with the hotel to have shuttle transport for us to and from the airport and to and from the interview site . The hotel puts up airline employees, who apparently have priority for things like shuttle svcs. There was a shuttle awaiting when I landed, which was also waiting on the pilots and attendants from my flight. The driver gave us non-airline employees a hard time about possibly not being able to fit us on... but eventually did fit us on. This was just a strange experience, as it's on the hotel to organize and accommodate shuttle passengers if they promise shuttle svc. Same strange experience with transport to and from the interview... I was initially told that there was no shuttle svc available at the time i needed, and after pressing the issue and following up was able to arrange an 8:15 am pick up along with another person interviewing at the same site. In speaking to people at the interview it emerged that there shuttle service had actually made 2 trips that morning to the interview site. They could have easily organized us to make a single trip. It was just poor communication and organization. Transportation from the interview to the hotel required a 1.5 hour wait and multiple phone calls to the hotel. I'm awaiting transport to the airport as we speak... hopefully that goes off without a hitch. In short, they over-promise and under-deliver when it comes to transportation.
Rooms are nice, but a little old and beat-up. I did NOT want my room cleaned and assumed that if I didn't leave a 'please clean the room' sign on the door it wouldn't be cleaned. Lo and behold, it was cleaned. Come to think of it there was only a 'do not disturb ' sign available, so I'm not sure how one would inform housekeeping they do not want the room cleaned. Also, I asked for, and got, a later checkout (1pm) but I don't think this was communicated to housekeeping as they kept coming by to try and clean the room. They were super sweet and apologetic once I explained the situation to them, but again, poor communication btwn various departments.
Front desk was not knowledgeable about local amenities etc. They did not know if there was uber on Dayton... there was.
Upstairs restaurant was awesome... but that's a separate review.

a HUGE shout out to the staff who were faced with various unforeseen situations, and were able to provide solutions, all while keeping a genuine smile! Seemed the facilities are going through some upgrades and repairs but those things have to happen every so often! Thank you for making the stay successful!

Stayed at hotel Christmas eve. The staff was welcoming and friendly and remembered my wife and I from our last visit. They were helpful and allowed a late check out after our long drive. They were very helpful in finding late night dinner for us on the holiday and even brought us a fan because we asked. I will always stay at this hotel when I visit Dayton because of the service I received.
