The Crowne Plaza is a very nice hotel. It is convenient to the highway, and there are good restaurants near by.
The staff do a very nice job.
The new sheets and pillowcases on the bed feel like plastic and were hard to sleep on.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Not again!
We live here in Springfield and like to use the Crown Plaza for a winter get-away (and to use our perks from the Executive Club). Sadly - and not for the first time - we found all or parts of the pool/hot tub/sauna unavailable for use during our entire five-night stay. Beyond that we found, as we have found before, little awareness of the Executive Club among employees. The person in the gift shop said she had never heard of any discount owing to Club members. And while multiple employees assured us we could renew our membership at a discounted price previous to 12/25, the actual discount deadline was apparently Thanksgiving, not that we, as longtime members, had ever been informed that the Club would even continue into 2015, let alone that there was a discount price deadline. (In the end, after multiple negotiations, we received the discounted price as a trade-off for the non-functioning water features.) The heat - a real attraction given our drafty old house - did not work until we called to have it fixed the second day. We ordered room service and an uneaten piece of pie sat outside our door for two days. During our stay we used the hors d'oeuvres party Club perk. All that went well, a great relief as last year's party somehow got erased from your books and had to be thrown together in half an hour after we arrived. We hope new ownership or management or whatever transition was afoot will resolve all of these problems and let this beautiful property shine as brightly as we know it can.

Room curtains could not be closed to darken room. Door handle to bathroom was so loose it was about to fall off-could not close bathroom door. Poor value for Friday night seafood buffet-variety and quality of food poor compared to price charged. No table service on table next morning for breakfast-food line on breakfast buffet was not monitored leaving extended periods of empty containers on the line. Waiters were non responsive to requests for more coffee/ cream.
