Great lounge, Bad Employee Restaurant Hygiene

The staff in the 7th floor lounge was great!

The hotel's restaurant was fine, except for one key point. I observed a hotel employee walk up to the breakfast buffet, remove bacon from the container with their bare hands, and eat it as they walked back to the kitchen area. Not the type of service expected from a Crowne Plaza, or any restaurant that serves food.

Excellent for the price

This trip was unexpected. My son had emergency surgery and I rushed to Austin. Normally I would do a lot of homework and comparison but I needed a hotel close to where he lived. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Crowne Plaza was priced so affordably. It was easy to make a reservation on my phone from the hospital. I called to see if I could get into my room early and was quickly accommodated. The room was lovely and, especially under the condition of my stay, very inviting. I was able to come and go to take care of him and had food available at any point should I need to eat at an odd hour. I added breakfast for 2 to my room when I registered. For a small fee I was able to eat a cooked breakfast (with REAL EGGS) and take one to-go for my son. It was a pleasant respite for me and I would quickly stay there again under any conditions.

Disappointed at the Crown Plaza

I have stayed at Crown Plaza all over the world and this was the worst Crown Plaza ever encountered. I expect a high level of attention from the staff and great overall service from CP properties. This particular was dirty, poorly managed and looked like a throwback from the 1970's.

Don't go here unless you are without any other options. There are many other nearby hotels for the same or better price and are much more suited to business travel.
